Policies

The aim of our policies is to ensure that we has effective measures in place to safeguard from potential risk of harm and that the safety and wellbeing of the children are the highest priority in all aspects of our school’s work. The policies apply to all on and off-site activities undertaken by pupils whilst they are the responsibility of the school.

We ensure that all staff, including our Governors, read at least Part one of DfE guidance ‘Keeping children safe in education’ and that systems are in place to assist staff to understand and carry out their role and responsibilities as set out in this document.

Please see our school policies below:

Extremism and Radicalisation

As defined by the NSPCC, ‘Radicalisation is the process through which a person comes to support or be involved in extremist ideologies. It is in itself a form of harm.

Extremism was defined by the Home Office in 2011 as a vocal or active opposition to fundamental British values, including democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs (HM Government, 2011).’

The Governing Body will not tolerate extremism. We trust in our strong vision, values and ethos to guide us to ensure the pastoral care of our children protects them from exposure to negative influences.

The Priory Parish C of E is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children. As a school, we recognise that safeguarding against radicalisation is a safeguarding matter equal to any other vulnerability.

All staff have completed Prevent training (January 2025) and are expected to uphold and promote the fundamental principles of British values, including democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect, and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. In our school, children:

  • Are taught how to keep themselves safe, in school and when using the internet

  • Participate in school and local community and charity events to appreciate and value their neighbours and friends of diverse backgrounds

  • Develop in confidence and resilience through our planned curriculum and extra-curricular learning opportunities

  • Are supported in making good choices from the very beginnings of their education so they understand the impact and consequences of their actions on others.

'Pupils benefit from supportive relationships with staff. They feel confident to share
any concerns that they have because they trust staff to help them. This makes
pupils feel safe at school.'
